Latest Commissioned Tiara

Hi,

I had been busy with a new job recently which kept me away from my sparklies.
However, the sparkle time is back now.  So here is a photo of my latest commissioned tiara.

A very excited customer is going to be a bridesmaid for her sister in November.  We had a few consultations and I took a few ready made tiaras and headbands over for her to look at <make excited noises over>

The bridesmaid dress is chocolate brown and dusky pink.  My client wanted more pearls than crystals in the main part of the tiara but also wanted plenty of sparkle.  Hence the double band of Swarovski crystals on the band.  We choose a combination of cream, powder almond and dusky pink Swarovski crystal pearls.  The copper wire added warmth to the overall piece and complimented all the pearls and crystals.

There is always pressure when making a piece for someone as opposed to making an 'off-the-shelf' item as there is a bigger expectation.  So imagine my delight when I received the best possible compliment:

'Wow, this is even better than I could ever have imagined'

Here is a picture, I would love to know what you think.

Thanks,

'Freya' in Purple

Hi,

A while back I created a gorgeous double band head piece.  I used powder rose Swarovski crystal pearls teamed with clear AB Swarovski crystals.

I was recently commissioned to recreate this piece using cream Swarovski crystal pearls with purple velvet and clear AB Swarovski crystals.

It never fails to amaze me how one design can look so different when re-made using different colours.

I am so pleased to let you know that 'Freya' in purple was delivered today and the recipient was over the moon with it.  <Happy Dance>

This photo really doesn't do the little sparklers justice.

Gotta love that purple.

Today was a very good day.

Hi,

Today was such a great day I just had to share it with you.

First of all I got my baby fix.  I visited two gorgeous babies this morning and it was giggles, smiles and cuddles all round :)

One of the yummy mummy's modelled some of our tiaras for us and I discovered that green trees with the sun shining on them make such a lovely backdrop for my little sparklers.

Now for more exciting news <drum roll please> I am pleased to announce that a selection of Tatty Angel Designs' tiaras and jewellery are on display in Freemans Flowers (a florist based in Didcot, Oxfordshire).  Wahoo, spread the word.  Brides-to-be can now discuss wedding bouquets whilst looking at, trying on, ordering their tiara and accessories.

Then to round off a perfect day we also got featured as the spotlight supplier in 'Ruby Weddings' blog.

Hope your day has been a good one too :o)

Reading Wedding Fair 20/03/11

Hello,

Be warned, this could be a fairly long blog post ;o)

Tatty Angel Designs got invited to the Reading Wedding Fair last minute so pretty much had one week to prepare for it.  Needless to say, this last week has been hectic and has consisted of long and busy days.  Each day has been a blur of designing, making, pricing up, and even making the pretty little pink bows to glue on to the gift boxes.  Apologies to those friends that have been neglected during this time ;o)

So, I'll start with the bad news first as I prefer to end on a high.  One earring sadly went astray, and it's a bit of a mystery as to where it went.  Looking at the photos taken just before packing away the earring is clearly in sight.  It's not the end of the World but just slightly annoying.  One of our suppliers sells sterling silver ear wires singular.  Whilst placing a recent order I forgot this and as I ordered 2 of one design, 2 of another design and 3 of yet another design I expected 7 PAIRS of earrings.  I actually received 7 earrings (Hey, I told you it was a long week).  And do you think the earring that went missing was made with the ear wire that I had a spare one of, no of course not.  It had to be one of the others.  Anyway, like I said not the end of the World  but I had to vent slightly.

Today was also the Reading half marathon, so it was expected that this would delay the crowds coming to the fair - however, we all know that a bride-to-be will not let 16,000 runners stand between her and a wedding fair, so I was still optimistic.  Seeing as it was a quiet start I thought I'd do my bit and support the runners.  I've done a couple of 10k's before and appreciate how much a bit of crowd interaction can really help.  Plus I knew two people that were running.  To cut a long story short (which is hard for me, why use 15 words when you can use 1500), I was lucky enough to see both of the people I was supporting - out of 16,000 who'd thought???  Pleased with myself, my eagle eye and my clapping efforts I was about to go back to my stand (business is business after all) when I was approached by a guy.  He was with Reading 107 radio.  He asked if I was supporting anyone, whether I'd seen them and whether or not I'd like to go on radio.  Who me, ooh I'd hate it, haha.  I managed to give a shout out to the runners, the charities oh and jammy me also managed to get in a quick plug about the Wedding Fair.

And the news gets better.  I didn't go to the fair with the expectation of selling anything.  I see them as mainly opportunities for networking and the chance for you to grab (not literally) as many people as you can to convince them that your products/services are the best.  So imagine my delight when I did actually sell a couple of items.  One was even right at the end as we were all packing up.  I was a selling machine!

However, the best news was receiving such positive feedback regarding 'Tatty Angel Designs' jewellery and tiaras.  People didn't automatically think the items were handmade and seem incredibly impressed when I told them that EVERYTHING is handmade.  It was also mentioned on several occasions that the table looked very professional.  What more could we ask for (except for sales obviously).

All in all it was a fantastic networking event and I spoke with some very lovely and talented people in the wedding industry.  And I generated a lot of genuine interest which I hope will lead to sales.

I am and I hope to remain a romantic soul so what better way for me to spend a day than being surrounding with all things weddingy - and who said that isn't a word, it should be.

Here's me in the obligatory 'vendor with stand' photo.  Btw, it pays to take care when choosing an outfit to wear to a wedding fair.  You want to appear professional, elegant and comfortable (nothing worse that watching someone altering their clothes as they try to convince you to buy their products/services).  Yet at the same time you don't want to out bling your bling.  I chose this delightful little flower dress, pale green, knee length, worn with black leggings and flat black pumps.  One vendor struck up a conversation with me by telling me how she'd been eyeing up my dress, I liked hers too and so the start of what could be an beneficial relationship began.  Oh and I also wore some of my handmade jewellery to complete the look and to provide another talking point...

Til next time,

Hello,

I tried out a new design, inspired by Mz Van Outen's bridal headdress.

I have made this one with 3mm and 4mm creamrose Swarovski crystal pearls and 4mm Swarovski crystals.

It can be worn across the forehead, as a head band and even as a necklace.

It is adjustable as it ties with ribbons.

I can make this in different colours and different styles.  Please contact us if you are interested.

Two new items

Hello all,

How are you doing today?  I managed to run almost five miles today - why do we do it to ourselves?  Anyway after watching the great film that is 'Fight Club', I decided I needed to look at something pretty and sparkly before bed.  I also thought I'd share it with you.

Here are my two most recent makes.

The first is a tiara designed with the main feature to be worn on the side.  The main feature is a wire wrapped spray that consists of Swarovski crystals and Swarovski crystal pearls.  The rest of the headband is covered with Swarovski crystal pearls with the middle section embellished with yet more Swarovski crystals.

My second item is a gorgeous bridal hair comb.  I wire wrapped each component separately and formed flowers and leaves using Swarovski crystals, Swarovski crystal pearls, clear quartz chips and silver lined seed beads.  A delicate and elegant piece which can be worn in a variety of ways.

Please let me know if you are interested in ordering these items.  Commissions are welcomed.

Thanks,
Annaliese (TAD)

New Tiara and Matching Bracelets

Hello,

I hope you are all well today.  I had planned out my day today, sometimes that's the best way for me to get myself organised.  However, I was thrown a bit of a curve ball this morning, so my day didn't quite go according to plan.

I did manage to take some photos of my latest makes though.  Yesterday I made my first ever double band tiara.  I also made two matching bracelets.  It's such a shame that the photos do not do these pieces justice in terms of how beautiful the Swarovski crystals and Swarovski crystal pearls really are.

I used 3mm and 4mm crystal pearls in powder rose, a very subtle dusky rose colour. The tiara also features 4mm crystals in clear AB.  Believe me when I say these little sparklers really catch the light and add a certain wow factor.

The matching bracelets have subtle differences.  One of them is made with the pearls, the AB crystals and some very pretty pale pink Czech crystals.   Whereas the other one features just the pearls and the pale pink Czech crystals.  The bracelets fasten with heart shaped silver coloured toggle clasps.

Both are beautiful and very elegant (even if I do say so myself)  :o)

If you are interested in purchasing these items, or anything interested then please just contact us.

Thanks,

Crystals and Pearls

Hi all,

Today I've been playing with crystal and pearls.

I am trying out a new design using a double band tiara base.

Lovely Swarovski crystal pearls, 3mm and 4mm in powder rose with Swarovski crystals, 4mm in crystal AB.

Delicate but a statement piece in it's own right.  Sometimes less is more, apart from when it comes to the 'sparkle' factor.

Photos to follow soon.

Bye for now,

Welcome to the New Blog

Hello,

My name is Annaliese and I am the main designer for Tatty Angel Designs.

I've been busy over the last couple of days creating new pieces for our Bridal Collection. I've learnt a new beading technique called 'Flat Spiral Peyote.  Using this technique I have created this gorgeous bridal bracelet.  The design includes Swarovski Crystals, Swarovski Crystal Pearls and Seed Beads.

The Swarovski Crystals really catch the light and add that all important sparkle to this piece.

Until my next post, bye.

Annaliese, (TAD)
